S1E7 - Three components of saintliness in the House of New Bethany

Our third spiritual principle in the House of New Bethany is to always strive to become a saint. What is saintliness in our Thérèsian spirituality?

Welcome! The House of New Bethany is a Catholic devotion to Mystical France as the Eldest Daughter of the Church grounded in the tradition of St. Mary Magdalene in France. If you are a free subscriber, consider an upgrade to support my work. Thank you for being here!

In this episode I bring you three components of saintliness from the book, Written in Heaven: The Life on Earth of the Little Flower of Lisieux. In our previous episode, I developed the three spiritual principles for the House of New Bethany based upon the Thérèsian spirit imbued in this book. These principles are: building a haven for Jesus and Mary in our interior; developing the human character this interior demands; and striving always to become a saint. The final chapter of the book reveals several treasures that support our efforts toward the third principle - striving always to be a saint.

  1. Manifesting our practical person:

    1. The disposition of our heart toward God.

    2. The completeness of our personality that we may be accessible to others.

    3. Being normal in an extraordinary manner.

  2. Presenting no barriers to others by being enviable:

    1. Being humble.

    2. Being simple.

    3. Having nothing earthly to envy so that others may be encouraged to seek God.

  3. Creating an object of desire for others by being a source of:

    1. Truth.

    2. Beauty.

    3. Goodness.

These three components of our third principle direct us toward the mystical Kingdom along the Trail of the Dogmatic Creed with St. Thérèse at our side.
