In this episode, I discuss the asceticism of the House of New Bethany as our means of fulfilling the three spiritual principles, or charisms, mentioned in episode six. Acquiring strength for our journey from St. Joan of Arc and the spiritual charisms of The House of New Bethany from St. Thérèse, we now turn to St. Mary Magdalene as our master of ascetic life. Magdalene is our model of repentance, contrition, penance and purification. She is our model of friendship with Jesus. Who better to lead us into spiritual battle than the one from whom Jesus expelled seven demons? We now “ascend to the Grotto of Mary Magdalene” in solitude, spiritual austerity, and contemplation to be purified by the Holy Spirit through the inception of The House of “New” Bethany in our hearts.
